We will say it before you do: this is Simon. Four pads, watch the sequence, tap it back, one longer every round. Reinventing a 1978 toy was never the plan. Building the best-feeling version of it that opens in a browser tab, with no download and no second site standing in the way, was. The whole thing is four DOM buttons in a 2x2 grid. No canvas, no engine. That was the point, because the constraint forced every scrap of the feel into places you cannot actually see.

Sound is where the hours went. Each pad owns one note, C, E, G and A above middle C, and those four are not arbitrary: they are the tones of a C major sixth chord, so whatever order the game fires still resolves as a small consonant melody instead of a sour mess. A clean run is basically you composing. Around that we bolted on the things the original never had. A row of progress pips so you always know how deep the sequence runs. A glow that warms and swells as your score climbs toward 20. A full reduced-motion path that quietly drops the shockwave rings and pip animations for anyone whose OS asks for calm. Playback opens near 600ms a step and tightens 24ms each round.

The weak spot is the genre itself. There is no new mechanic here, and the difficulty runs on one axis: pace floors out at 280ms a step around round 14, and after that the only thing still growing is how much you have to hold in your head. The sequence is random, so there is no strategy to dig up, only recall. And a single wrong pad ends the run outright, detuned buzz and a shake, no lives, no partial credit. That punish-and-restart loop is faithful to the source. It is also the thing most likely to make you close the tab instead of hitting play again.
